| Data
handling Collected data is transferred from the device to a portable PC computer over a standard USB port using the WinQLTC software. The same software is also used for data handling, processing, reporting, graphing, table generation and other customer specific options. Communication When multiple devices are needed at a location, for example at a toll station, up to 16 QLTC-10 devices can be connected to a serial bus and to a desktop PC, thereby allowing the user to monitor the traffic on-line from a single point. Additionally, a GSM/GPRS module can be integrated into device to connect one or more devices over a public GSM900/1800 network, thereby allowing the user to monitor and collect the traffic data remotely. Traffic data and system information can be retrieved remotely, manual using a PC computer and a GSM modem or automatically with a QLTCnet Server software. When a device is equiped by GSM/GPRS module, all malfunctions such as power fail, loop errors, etc. are automatically reported on-line to the service personnel by using the SMS services. Controlling The QLTC-10C offers outputs, with signals for direct control of ramps and/or other traffic controlling and/or signalling devices. Several signals i.e. loop status, speed limit violation, low speed or queue detection, are available via an interface and can be used for controlling the automated traffic signs. Construction The QLTC-10C device is designed as a small and compact device in the rigid housing. The device is electronically protected against against voltage surges and lightning strikes, thus protecting the hardware from the electrical shocks. Since all the components are built into the single housing, the corrosion effects on the connectors are ruled out. The loops are connected to the device via a spring-like push lock connector. Additionally, the device can be equipped only by 16-20W solar cell and 12Ah battery unit that is enough of autonomous operation. Due to ultra low power design, the power consumption is less than 120mW with integrated GSM/GPRS module. The device is normally mounted in a plastic roadside cabinet that protects the hardware from mechanical and atmospheric influences. |
